Throughout the year 2011, events and processes that have been synthesized by the term "Arab spring" have put the Euro-Mediterranean region in the center of world attention. Such events have made appear tensions that had been late for some time in the societies of southern and eastern Mediterranean, and likely will be decisive in their future. Such stresses affect also the delicate balances in the region. The course offers a multidisciplinary approach, from economics, sociology, demography, politics, international relations and ecology, of the trends underlying these tensions, the possible transitions and the scenarios can be envisaged for the next future.
